Recently, Microsoft has published an official video preview of Windows 8. This next version of Windows will run on everything from tablets to desktop PCs. As we reported in previous articles, Windows 8 user interface is designed and optimized for touch supported devices but it also works well with a mouse and keyboard.

If you’re thinking what happened to the old Start Menu ?! It is still there and can be used same as Windows 7, Vista.

Windows 8 appears to have two completely separate interfaces :
1. Traditional Desktop OS (Like Windows 7, Vista).
2. A new touch-based interface.

Windows 8 will support two kind of applications :
1. Classic Windows applications (Normally you used in Windows 7 or Vista).
2. A new kind of applications written in HTML5 and Javascript.
The new type of applications (written in HTML5 and javascript) will work in full screen, just like mobile apps.

Another surprise is that Windows 8 will come with Internet Explorer 10, It will support fully touch optimized browsing.

Also, Windows 8 will have a native PDF reader, that means PC owners will no longer need to install a third-party app such as Adobe Reader to view PDFs. The new PDF reader is known as ‘Modern Reader’, and uses the new AppX application package type, which is similar to that in Windows Phone 7.
Also you’ll be able to use an encrypting hard drive to boot Windows 8.
Here is the official video preview of Windows 8 by Microsoft:
Here are a few aspects of the new interface :
• Fast launching of apps from a tile-based Start screen, which replaces the Windows Start menu with a customizable, scalable full-screen view of apps.
• Live tiles with notifications, showing always up-to-date information from your apps.
• Fluid, natural switching between running apps.
• Convenient ability to snap and resize an app to the side of the screen, so you can really multitask using the capabilities of Windows.
• Web-connected and Web-powered apps built using HTML5 and JavaScript that have access to the full power of the PC.
• Fully touch-optimized browsing, with all the power of hardware-accelerated Internet Explorer 10.
